D.M.P. was my favorite muse in 1993. To me she had a classic look for the “Malibu Girl on the Beach” that I love designing fashion for. On Topanga Beach in this photo she modeled my newest faux leather tank swimsuit and Cowhide Leather Tote Bag. The tank suit is so simple, deeply cut out armholes with a racer cut in the back, and highly cut-up on the hip, it looked good on so many shapes and was an experimental piece in what later would become Leather Waves “No-Animal” line of leather goods. The Bag is fashioned after a shopping bag, big and roomy, to carry over the shoulder or over the arm. The bag is made from black and cream thick but very soft and durable cowhide accentuated by the inlay design reminiscent of flur-de-lis, which I also used on alot of garments at the time, a kind of modern medieval revival. The inside is lined in a heavy black satin with a large zippered pocket inside. Although these fashions are 20 years old I still think they could be current today! Because some designs become classics and this is one of ours…they are available for custom order in our online store, come visit and look!
