“In the Shop” with Jackie Robbins, Episode #11, Men’s Belt Pouch/Sling

As seen in the past weeks I had the opportunity to make a wonderful belt pouch for my longtime friend and Leather Waves patron, Mr. Lou Gossett Jr. This is a bag that Lou and I designed together as an accessory to compliment his afro-fushion clothing line, and that we now sell at Leather Waves in conjunction with his Eracism Foundation. You can see how the bag is constructed by looking at the pictures of the process I took to make the bag. In these photos you can see the results of 2 versions of the bag, the original in a brown crocodile print cowhide with antique brass fittings and the second in a black smooth goatskin with antique silver fittings. The pockets are designed with specific items in mind, such as, but not limited to, cell phone, credit cards, business cards and passport. The large inner pocket that spans the entire bag and is secured with a zipper holds money, checks and small important papers. This bag can be made in a variety of leathers and suedes, and we are waiting for a woman to step forward and have a female version created! I love the way Lou wears it as a sling across the shoulder, but it does have a fastening belt so that it can be wore on the waist or hip.
